Town of Topsfield

The Reverend Kathleen Rhyne

A resident of Lancaster PA, she comes to Topsfield from the Hempfield United Methodist Church having served this 1400 member church as the Pastor of Discipleship, supervising a staff of 14. With a change in senior pastor leadership at this church, she became part of an interim pastor team sharing the duties of senior pastor with others.
Among other leadership activities, Reverend Rhyne led Hempfield United Methodist Church's strategic visioning process for discipleship, initiated a Christian summer day camp, started the Stephen Ministries lay caring ministry, developed a young adult couples ministry, and teamed to implement a new youth confirmation program.
She is a graduate of Pinkerton Academy in Derry, New Hampshire with an undergraduate degree from Bucknell University, an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a Master of Divinity from Lancaster Theological Seminary.
She served Hershey Foods Corporation as Director of New Products, successfully launching such products as "Nutrageous" candy bar, Hershey's Bites and Hershey's Hugs.

Excerpts from Reverend Rhyne's Statement of Ministry
"We are all called as Christ's disciples to rely on the Holy Spirit as we create together a community that nurtures people into a relationship with Jesus."
"As a pastor, I will encourage the church to . . .
Hear the message of God's love and forgiveness.
Actively participate in worship that is joyful, prayerful and a constant source of renewal.
Invest in Bible study, seeking to understand the meaning and cost of discipleship as well as how Jesus has taught us to live our lives.
Discover our true spiritual gifts and be inspired to use those gifts to serve in ministry in the church and in the world.
Embody God's love for all people and actively share our faith with all those beyond the church community we encounter.
Demonstrate God's love in the local community and world, encouraging peace, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, providing shelter to the homeless, and seeking justice for all."
